Quite a rushed weekend, but still managed to scan the #screenshotsaturday entries for the 5th of March…
Jack B. Nimble
This weekend I recorded another devlog – it actually took up a great deal of my time, so I actually had very little time for development. I think I need to start working on the updated options screen before putting out another devlog. Perhaps I could stream my progress in future?
Anyway, the devlog should be up in the next day or two – I just want to edit the audio a little and introduce a couple of youtube specific features (like previous videos, etc.). As ever, if you’ve got any feedback, feel free to leave it in the comments here or on the previous videos… I’ve barely had any so far.
Killing, My Friend
So this should have been posted last week, but I missed it. Time to fix that!
Some of you may know that I cut my teeth on a little-known Half-Life mod called The Opera, where I worked on some (terrible) levels as far back as the late 90’s. The Opera was an homage to the “Hong Kong Blood Opera” or “Bullet Ballet”, paying tribute to the cinematic works of Tsui Hark, John Woo and Ringo Lam. Alongside The Opera there was Action Half-Life, and before it, Action Quake 2, provding a broader take on the action genre, riffing on Die Hard, Pulp Fiction, Dirty Harry, Boondock Saints, as well as the aforementioned Hong Kong 80’s classics.
That was where my connections with the “Action” franchise began, but not where they ended, as in 2004 I provided the “Fung Soi Restaurant” map for Action Unreal Tournament 2014 (not as bad as my previous efforts, but not great either).
So when I heard that they were coming back with Killing, My Friend, a standalone game, I was rather excited. There’s some gameplay footage and some information about the game over at the Killing, My Friend website.
There’s not much to say on this one. I don’t know anything about it, not even the name. I just thought it looked cute…
Check back next week for another #screenshotsaturday showcase!
